dvsn's career milestones
Nineteen85 began producing records and making new songs professionally in 2013. He made his name producing some of Drake's studio tracks. In 2013, he was involved with the production of music for Juicy J's third studio album, Star Strippy, for example, before moving on to work on “Hold On, We're Going Home”, featuring Majid Jordan, for Drake. This track ended up appearing on the rapper's Nothing Was the Same album, as well as “Too Much”. Making his name, largely because “Hold On, We're Going Home” got to number one in the US R 'n' B charts as well as going platinum, Nineteen85 was invited to form his own act with Jefferies in 2015. Nineteen85 also worked with the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Nicki Minaj and Jessie Ware while dvsn was in its formative years.
With the backing of Drake's OVO label, dvsn set about producing some singles. The first of these was a song called “The Line”, soon followed by “With Me”. Both tracks would make it onto dvsn's debut album that would come out the following year. Later in 2015, the duo put out the well-received “Too Deep”. The final single to be used to promote the album was called “Hallucinations”, also released prior to the LP being made available. It was not until March in 2016 that Sept. 5th was unleashed on the public. The album made it to number seven in the US R 'n' B charts, and sold well in the UK and Canada.
In 2016, dvsn were also involved with Drake's studio work. The duo worked with him on “Faithful”, a charting single that was taken from the rapper's forthcoming album, Views. The band undertook their first headline tour in 2016, as well as operating as a support act for Drake on the Boy Meets World Tour. In 2017, dvsn started to release new singles, including “Think About Me” and “POV”. In October of that year, the band put out their second album, Morning After. It got to number 38 in the US album charts.
