Download Festival 2018: Guns N' Roses, Avenged Sevenfold and Ozzy Osbourne to headline

Download 2018: three giants of metal top the bill

Donington Park has been a host venue for live music for over 25 years, but it wasn't until 2003 that the rock festival established its home residence at the famed motorsport circuit. The idea for the festival came after the overwhelming success of Ozzfest in 2002, proving that the British public were hungry for a classic hard rock event. In its first year alone the festival welcomed Iron Maiden, Limp Bizkit and featured the first UK performances of Evanescence and Flint.

This year, Donington Park hosts a dizzying array of mega rock, metal and punk talent. The weekend kicks off on Friday with a formidable line-up with Avenged Sevenfold taking to the main stage, and 65 massive rock and metal acts (such as You Me At Six, The Bronx, Marmozets, L7, and Cradle Of Filth) confirmed for the Zippo, Avalanche and Dogtooth stages. Continuing on the epic billing, Saturday sees the legendary Guns N' Roses take centre stage, while a headline slot from Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne on Sunday closes this brilliant festival.
