Dorothy tour dates
Dorothy is an American rock band featuring female lead vocalist and songwriter Dorothy Martin. The band's vintage rock and old-school metal feel is paired with Martin's bold, gritty vocals for a modern twist on classic rock sounds. Dorothy attendees can anticipate an evening filled with the Dorothy rock hits that fans have grown to love, as well as new hits from their anticipated 2018 album, 28 Days in the Valley.
Dorothy launched in 2014 after the band performed a piano ballad for music producers Mark Jackson and Ian Scott. The two were blown away by Martin's voice and felt compelled to swap out the piano for traditional rock instrumentals to create what would become Dorothy's signature style. That song, "After Midnight," launched Dorothy's mainstream music career and is still a fan favorite. Since then, the band has become known for their high-voltage sound and edgy, unapologetic lyrics that center around drugs, sex and rock and roll.
While Dorothy as a band is centered around Martin's vocal talents, there are four other members in the band: guitarist Nick Maybury, drummer Jason Ganberg, guitarist and backup vocalist Eli Wulfmeier, and bassist and backup vocalist Eliot Lorango. Former members include drummer Zac Morris and guitarist Mark Jackson - both of whom left the band in 2016 - and bassist Gregg Cash, who left the band in 2017.
In 2014, when Dorothy released their self-titled EP, Rolling Stone magazine named them No. 14 on their 50 Best New Artists list, and called them "a [band] you need to know." Since then, the band has released two studio albums.
Their first, Rockisdead, came out in 2016 under record label Roc Nation. Several songs on the album have been featured in advertisements for HBO shows, including Orange Is The New Black and Now You See Me 2. The album reached No. 129 on the Billboard 200, No. 5 on the Top Hard Rock Albums and No. 1 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. Rockisdead features some of Dorothy's most popular hits, including "Raise Hell," "Wicked Ones" and "Gun In My Hands."
Dorothy is set to release their second studio album in March of 2018. Record label Roc Nation will release the album, 28 Days in the Valley; the band announced the album's first single, "Flawless," in early 2018, which became a fan favorite upon release. Dorothy has described the album as having a more feminine, light and bright energy with less metal influence than their previous album. Female vocalists including P!nk, Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani have contributed to the album in various capacities as producers, engineers and writers.
