The film Dirty Dancing, which received widespread acclaim in 1987, set the stage for live production performances around the world. Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage, debuted in Australia in 2004 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon. Known for seamlessly blending hit songs from the film, such as "Do You Love Me?," "Hey Baby" and "Hungry Eyes," this production team consists of the some of the best talent in British theatre with the likes of Lewis Griffiths playing the role of Johnny Castle and Katie Hartland playing the role of Frances "Baby" Houseman. Over the years, the production of Dirty Dancing has consistently broken box office records, and critics have given it spectacular reviews.
There have been many highlights throughout the years, but a few standouts that have helped propel the stage production of Dirty Dancing into international fame include the French tour, which played to more than 500,000 people in the first launch year alone, and the premiere in Milan in 2015, which packed the 15,000-seat Roman Arena full. Recently, Director Federico Bellone and choreographer Gillian Bruce revived Dirty Dancing for UK audiences, and the response has been terrific.
