From A Residency at Tootsies to the Top of the Charts
Chris Janson honed his wild, electric performance style on the stage at Tootsies, a Nashville honky-tonk where he played every day for almost a year. His aggressive brand of hardcore country attracted artists and management to his gigs, and in 2006 he signed a deal with Chrysalis Music. Over the next few years, Janson toured with Hank Williams, Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd and wrote songs with Guns n' Roses and survived a few failed record deals as well. In 2012, Tim McGraw cut Janson's song "Truck Yeah." In 2015, Janson co-wrote "I Love This Life" with Locash, and the song went to No. 2 on the US Country charts. Later that year, he recorded "Buy Me a Boat" for iTunes and sent it to country artist, DJ Bobby Bones. Bones played it on his morning radio show, and the single went to No. 1 on iTunes that same day. In February 2017, Janson headlined a sold-out show next door to Tootsies at the famous Ryman Auditorium.
