Carla Bruni Tickets
A singer and songwriter of Italian and French descent, Carla Bruni is best known for her vocal work on self-penned, light jazzy tracks as well as blues and folk songs. She is also famous for being married to the former President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy. Born in 1967, Bruni continued to perform under her own name after she married Sarkozy in 2008, despite officially changing her name. In addition to her work as a musician, Bruni has worked as an actress and as a model for a time. Although she was born and raised in Turin, the performer lived in France from the age of 7.
Carla Bruni's career milestones
During the early part of her career, Bruni spent much of her time modelling. Her career in fashion ran from 1987, and as a successful model, it did not come to an end until around a decade later. However, Bruni continued to play small-scale gigs to showcase her songwriting throughout this period. In 2000, the French performer Julien Clerc took a number of Bruni’s songs and recorded them for his LP, Si J’etais Belle.
By 2002, Bruni’s musical abilities were becoming ever more noticed. She was ready to release her debut album at this point. Quelqu’un m’a dit was the resulting work, which went on to become a huge hit in France. It spent most of the calendar year in the top 10 of the album charts. She was subsequently named as the Female Artist of the Year in her adoptive country. In 2007, Bruni’s follow-up album was released. This work, called No Promises, was different from the previous LP, principally because the vocalist chose to sing all of the tracks in English rather than French. It was a hit in many countries of Europe and achieved a respectable position in the UK charts.
Bruni’s marriage raised her profile greatly. After the wedding, she put out a new album, which was called As If Nothing Had Happened for the English version. Critically well received and a number one hit in France, the folky style fared a little better than previous albums in the UK. Bruni wrote all of the songs on the LP, except for two that were penned by Michel Houellebecq. Little French Songs, of 2013, came out on the Verve label in the UK. It reached a high of number two in France. Three singles were taken from it, including “Chez Keith et Anita” and “Mon Raymond”. A new album, which was given the title French Touch, was put out in 2017.
