Session musician turned star in own right
Born in Northampton, Bruno Major started playing guitar at age seven and first began showcasing his talents as a session musician for Lalah Hathaway and Erykah Badu. But he became an artist in his own right at the relatively late age of 22 when he began penning his own material inspired by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, The White Stripes and J. Dilla. Major suffered a brief setback when a major label deal fell through but undeterred he continued to pursue his musical ambitions, as well as an equally eclectic new sound which saw him compared with Mercury Prize winnerJames Blake. This reinvention paid off when he became a hit on Soundcloud, opened for several high-profile acts and released an acclaimed live EP. He attracted further attention in 2016 with "A Song for Every Moon", a daring songwriting project in which he recorded and unveiled a new track every calendar month for 12 months. In 2017, Major was invited to appear on two-step garage maestro MJ Cole's single, "Shelter". An inviting and intimate live experience
The singer-songwriter first caught major attention as a performer with 2014's "Live", a four-track EP featuring both original material and an inspired rendition of Frank Ocean's "Bad Religion". And thanks to support slots with Grammy-nominated chanteuse Lianne La Havas and regular chart-topper Sam Smith, both his stage presence and his skills as a live musician and vocalist have improved even further. Major has also opened for chillout favourites London Grammar (whose line-up includes his brother Dot), enjoyed regular shows at jazz club Kansas Smitty's and Zigfrid von Underbelly and performed festival sets at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Latitude.
