Diamond in the RoughAladdin opens with the genie welcoming the audience to Agrabah. From there, we meet a young man named Aladdin who hangs out on the streets, sometimes stealing what he needs to live. High above Aladdin's head, in the Sultan of Agrabah's palace, Princess Jasmine longs to learn about life outside of the palace. One day, she disguises herself and sneaks down to the streets. While down there, she bumps into Aladdin, and the two must run away after a run-in with palace guards. The two hide in a cave until they are found. Jasmine is taken back to the palace while Aladdin is sentenced to death. Jafar, the Sultan's ambitious right-hand man, saves Aladdin and recruits him to find a lamp that is located in the cave of wonders. Aladdin obliges and finds the lamp. After he becomes trapped in the cave, he rubs the lamp and meets the Genie. His adventure with the Genie changes Aladdin's life and the future of Agrabah.
